It is a true testament to the power of the APT Community. With great exposure comes even a greater responsibility. We cannot complete the building of the APT without your help.Trail Organizations from around the country have contacted the APTC in order to create partnerships. The APTC receives requests to include existing trails into the greater APT System. These regional developments and partnerships is the future of the APT. The outcome is a series of projects of building footbeds and trailheads around the U.S.
The APTC is currently working to:
Set up regional offices to identify and connect with every single partner along the entire trail. Join the membership of The American Hiking Society & The Partnership for National Scenic Trails. Seek local, state, and federal designations. This includes but is not limited to designations as outlined in the National Trails System Act. Create bonding and non-binding agreements with regional partners. Establish memorandums of understanding with the NPS & NFS. Design and establish a regional and local club network. Identify and organize more volunteers for APT projects. Create committees for land acquisition and easement agreements.
This is our path/trail forward but we need your help. Please share this email with your friends, family and post the Nat Geo on social media. If you would like to volunteer with the APT, please email us. If you are not a member, consider becoming one or making a one time contribution. Find out more at www.americanperimetertrail.org
