Nat Trails Day Hike-Talcott Mtn Loop

June 3 @ 10:00 am 3:00 pm

Join the APT for a 5.2 mile loop hike on the NET/Metacomet Trail. We will hike down the blue trail to Heublein Tower where we can stop for a snack, continuing on Blue to the Reservoir then up the blue/red Talcott Mountain Bypass Trail. Time: 10am. Parking is available at Penwood State Park. What to bring: water, snacks, sunscreen, bug/tick spray.

This hike has some elevation and certain areas would be considered moderately challenging. Sections are known to be muddy after rain so please plan appropriate footwear and gear. Hike is rain or shine.

Entrance to Penwood State Park is off Rt 185 Hartford Road, between Stafford Road and Summit Ridge Drive in Bloomfield CT. The parking lot is not small but space could be limited, carpool if possible. Meet at the far end of the parking lot, hike begins at the Metacomet Trail sign on 185.

Meet your hike leader:

Suzanne grew up in Western CT and started hiking in 5th grade, completing the CT Appalachian Trail with her classmates. She just passed the 500 mile mark of the Blue Blazed Hiking Challenge and is working on section hiking the AT in New York. She lives in Brookfield with her partner Shane, the youngest of her three daughters, three dogs, a cat and two hens. Suzanne started volunteering with the APT about two years ago, served on the Board and is working on finding the perfect trail through CT for the APT.
