Alabama

On the APT, it is a junction state. Here in Alabama, the trail splits south and heads toward Florida, but it also continues north towards Georgia. After leaving the coastal plains, the APT heads northeast into the rugged southern remnants of the Appalachian Mountain Range. It finds a maintained footbed at the summit of Flag Mountain. From here, the Alabama APT follows the Pinhotti National Recreational Trail through Talladega National Forest to Georgia.

Proposed Route

The conversation continues around what is the best way for the APT to  connect from The Pinhoti Trail to Florida? The Pinhoti Trail currently has a route that can be used as a connector between these two states. The APTC will continue to formulate ideas in what appears to be the best experience for the recreationalist. This can be viewed on our Interactive Map.
